It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Henry Lindsay Tomlinson on Wednesday, 5th June 2013, at Grange over Sands in Cumbria.  He passed away peacefully after a short illness at his residential home, Cartmel Grange.  Henry served as Hon. Secretary of the Society during the period 1974 to 1976 and has been a loyal and supportive Member for many years.

The funeral was held on Thursday 13th June 2013 at St Charles RC church in Grange, with his burial afterwards in the Grange Cemetery.  Only a few weeks before he died, Henry took part in the celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic, with the Kirby Lonsdale Naval Association, and his photograph appeared in the local press.

Henry studied at Cambridge University, where he obtained his BA, before serving in the Navy during the War.  He was a District Commissioner and Magistrate in West Africa during his early career.  Henry is survived by his daughter Jane.
