Mr Douglas Alan Lindsay, of St Peter‘s Avenue, Haslingden, passed away peacefully at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on May 5, aged 84 years. Douglas was a former pupil of Bacup & Rawtenstall Grammar School, who went on to study at Manchester University, where he gained a Bachelor of Technical Sciences Degree. He worked until his retirement as a building surveyor and also a consultant loss adjuster. His hobbies included playing football in his youth, walking, swimming, watching cricket at Haslingden Cricket Club and was also a keen gardener. He loved to travel, in particular the Greek Islands, Italy, and caravanning in France. Douglas was a loving and devoted husband and father, grandfather and great grandfather. He leaves behind his wife Margaret; children Kate and son-in-law Mark, Tony and daughter-in-law Denise, Robert and daughter-in-law Susan, grandchildren, Rachael, Lindsay, Hayley, Fiona, Abbie and Oliver; great-grandchildren Toby, Max, Martha and Hudson. He also leaves a brother Gordon and his wife Yvonne who are also Society members. A service was held at St Peter‘s Church, Haslingden, on Wednesday, May 31.
