In the post showing the importation of persons by HUGH LEE, it should read MR. DAVID LINDSAY. Note the MR. This show a person with a degree, and we know that Rev. David had a doctorate from St. Andrews. Also his future father-in-law was associated with that university at the time.

I think that between Ira and myself and Joe, we have answered the question of “where is Lochhill and Annatland.
Also after re-reading ‘Church in the Mist’ by Dr. Marshall, it is shown that Bernard Lindsay’s widow makes a payment to insure she is buried next to him under the floor of the Lindsay Isle. All indicates that his body was returned from London for burial in St. Mary’s Church of So. Leith as was Rev. David’s.

I Found a bit in ‘L.of America’ stating that a record shows a HUGH LEE importing four persons in 1652, one of which was a DAVID LINDSAY. That of course is the year within the frame of time we think the Rev. David arrived.
I know this doesn’t help with the gap in his history we are looking for.
I did relocate also in a list of men who accompany James VI south to collect his new Crown, the name of Barnard Lindsay of Lochhill, Drum, and Craigballe. But that was not the bit saying the Bernard stayed and died in London. As I remember 1668. I will keep looking.

The tittle should be ‘JOUST TO THE DEATH’

Who are these “historians” that keep calling the DUEL at London Bridge a ‘JOUST’?
The accounts and records show that it was as the result of slanderous remarks by Richard II’s Champion, Lord Wells and a reply by Sir David Lindsay of Glenesk, that resulted in a challenge to a Duel to the DEATH. Certainly not a contest for sport!! Even the King himself, when Lindsay stood over the defeated Wells, said “Cousin, do as you Will.” Indicating that he had no objection to the terms of the contract. It was only Lindsay’s choice of mercy that saved Wells, and made Lindsay a hero, even in the eyes of the English. They wined and dined him for several months before he returned home, to even more acclaim.

I too am hopeful this site will provide more historical and genealogical material to and for our Clan MEMBERS. Of course the queries never stop, but now we have a site specific to that information. Thank you Mairi and Joseph Lindsay(JosephdeArlington).

Well it looks like 3 or 4 of us made it over. I hope more will follow, but then again I don’t think I have anything that is not already public on Facebook.
