(21st April 1931 – 5th March 2013)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of the most respected and stalwart Members of our Society.  Jimmy has been a Member of the Society for more years than anyone can remember and his father before him.  He served as Treasurer from 1993 to 2004, Auditor from 2004 until the present and in his role as a Member of the Board of Management he was always willing to fulfil the position of Chairman whenever he was able. He will be sadly missed. The funeral was held on Friday 15 March 2013 at Clydebank Crematorium, North Dalnottar where a capacity crowd gathered to celebrate the life of such a wonderful gentleman.

Jimmy passed away suddenly at Gartnavel Hospital on Tuesday, 5 March 2013 in his 82nd year.  He was greatly respected by all who knew him, beloved husband of Doris, much loved father of Blair, Malcolm and Crawford and a devoted grandfather.

He gave his time most generously to the Society and was a shrewd, quiet, guiding force in so many ways.  He had a wonderful facility of putting people at their ease with a ready welcome to new Members with a smile and twinkle in his eye.  His genial spirit and wise counsel will be sorely missed by all his many friends in the Lindsay Clan.

He attended the Gathering at Dirleton the previous year, 2012, with his wife Doris.  While he was Treasurer of the Society he would bring his Lindsay tartan umbrella with him to the Gatherings and claimed it would never rain as long as he remembered the umbrella.  The umbrella has been passed to John, our present Treasurer, who keeps up the tradition with continued success.

We will continue to remember the many sunny days with Jimmy for a long time to come.
